Paris Part 2 – Hotel Esmeralda

“Morning in Paris, the city awakes to the bells of Notre-Dame…”
“The fisherman fishes, the bakerman bakes to the bells of Notre-Dame.”
“To the big bells as loud as the thunder, to the little bells soft as a psalm..”
“..and some say the soul of the city is the toll of the bells…”
“The bells of Notre-Dame”

(Taken from The Hunchback of the Notre-Dame 1996)

Waking up to the sound of cathedral bells each morning was a memorable experience of my stay in this hotel.

Hotel Esmeralda situated at the left bank of the Seine. It is centrally located just across Île de la Cité where the Notre-Dame Cathedral located and it’s just 5 minutes walk to RER B (express train which can take you directly to Roissy-Charles de Gaulle).

You may refer to the location in map

Hotel Esmeralda offers funky and vintage rooms at reasonable rates. For the location just across the cathedral and at the heart of Paris.

The building itself exist since 1640 but renovated in 2000’s with a very minimal modernization, as the result the hotel still with an old winding wooden staircase, crooked hallways, wood-beamed ceilings and vintage collection of furniture. So classic!

All rooms has different decor and interior of the 19th century, each of it has its own charm. Note: Rooms are not equipped with TV, fridge, hairdryer, WIFI only available within lobby.

So if you are looking for a modern and minimalist type of accommodation, this place isn’t for you. 🙂

The hotel’s lobby full of antique furnitures
Floral wallpaper at the hallway and staircase
The vintage dressing table in my room
Taken from the bathroom, a full HD almost transparent
equipped with typical Parisian window
We got a room overlooking the cathedral.
You can see this sign at the door, “Certificate of Excellence” from Tripadvisor
